The Clarion Call

Ontario --- Unite Against the HST !!!

OUR GOAL :

Build a Group of 3 MILLION Ontario Tax Payers that will be so strong and so influential that there will be ZERO chance that any party will dare implement the HST in Ontario...The content of this blog will discuss our oppression under the weight of ever increasing taxes, user fees, bogus debt retirement charges from utilities and what we can accomplish if we the citizens of Ontario rise up and say NO MORE !!!

Regardless of the party Canadians and particularly Ontarians are taxed from cradle to grave with ridiculously high taxes, user fees and corporate add-ons to retire their own corporate debts and more.

It's time for Ontarians to rise up with ONE VOICE and demand that the politicians rescind their policies regarding such tyrannical practices. It's time for Ontarians to unite for the freedom of all hard working tax-enslaved members our our province, and tell the people who are in power, that it is only thanks to us that they even have a job, so they had better start governing with that in mind.

The Time for Revolution is NOW !!! NO "DALTON SALES TAX" .... The HST is like having your income cut by 8% ... so if you make $24,000 the HST will STEAL almost $ 2000 of it.

The Truth Cannot Be Hidden

Although the McGuinty government has tried its best to muddy the facts, the HST is relatively straightforward. It is a tax shift – business taxes are being reduced while consumer taxes go up. This tax shift will result in consumers paying upwards of $7-billion more each year, depending on whether businesses pass on their savings
or not. Those who responded to CARP’s survey do not think savings will be passed on – they probably remember the same promises were made when the GST was introduced!

The McGuinty government points to sales tax harmonization in Atlantic Canada as evidence that there will be no impact on consumer prices. But the government conveniently fails to mention that the Atlantic provinces actually LOWERED  their sales tax rate when adopting the HST.

One of the other claims is that the HST will boost job creation. Ontario has lost more nthan 300,000 jobs since 2003. Cities like Toronto, Sudbury, Windsor and London have unemployment rates of more than 10 per cent.

Workers in these cities need proven job creation policies, not a new tax on daily basics.

Even the Ontario Chamber of Commerce – the biggest supporter of the government’s plan – admits the HST will “slow employment growth by between 10 and 40 thousand jobs . . . as businesses substitute capital for labour in the production of
goods and services.”

So what’s in this tax for ordinary Ontarians? You will be paying eight per cent more on hundreds, if not thousands, of goods and services. The McGuinty government’s tax shift will result in consumers paying billions more without
even any new investments in public services, like healthcare and education
. It will slow job growth and help keep consumer confidence in a rut.

The McGuinty HST is bad for Ontario because it is bad for Ontarians. You can count on the NDP to fight against its implementation, but we need your help. Get involved in our campaign by visiting www.unfairtaxgrab.com where you can join the 70,000 Ontarians who have already signed our petition against this unfair tax grab.

Ontario opposition high to harmonized tax, poll suggests

By Jordana Huber , Canwest News ServiceSeptember 23, 2009

TORONTO — Polling conducted in the spring by the Ontario government found nearly 70 per cent of respondents were opposed to the province's tax harmonization plan.

The post-budget poll — which has a large margin of error — of 200 people was conducted for the Ministry of Finance at the end of March. It shows 68 per cent were opposed to a single sales tax that would apply to goods and services previously exempt from the provincial sales tax.

The survey was obtained by the NDP under the Freedom of Information Act.

The new tax is scheduled to take effect on July 1, 2010.

"One can only imagine what the numbers would look like if Ontarians were told the HST will kill up to 40,000 jobs each year," NDP Leader Andrea Horwath said during Question Period.

Conservative Leader Tim Hudak said the poll reflects what he has been hearing from Ontarians across the province.

"It's an unaffordable tax increase on the backs of middle class families and seniors," Hudak said.

Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty said the government doesn't govern by polls and the single most important way to strengthen the economy is to move ahead with a harmonized sales tax.

"We are not moving ahead with the HST because of the ground swell of support for it. We're doing it because it's going to put Ontario at the forefront in North America," McGuinty said.

The new HST, which blends the eight per cent provincial sales tax with the five per cent GST, will raise the cost of a range of items previously exempted from the PST, including gas, hydro bills, hair cuts and newspaper subscriptions.

On Wednesday, a coalition of business leaders announced the formation of the Smart Tax Alliance to promote the "positive benefits of sales tax harmonization."

"The tax rate on business investment in Ontario has put us at a disadvantage next to our peer jurisdictions in the U.S. and Canada, and it must urgently be addressed," Len Crispino, President & CEO of the Ontario Chamber of
Commerce said in a statement.

"If we are expected to be a magnet for investment and innovation in this province, we must move ahead with the tax reforms, most importantly, sales tax harmonization."

The poll has a margin of error of 6.7 per cent 19 times out of 20.

Economic Slight of Hand - Do They Really Think Anyone Believes Them?

Hello everyone

As a concerned taxpayer I feel it is important to have you all understand what the new HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) or "blended tax" means to Ontarians.

It amazes me that this announcement has slipped by without a ripple, and yet when I tell people about the impact to them they are all shocked.

The intended purpose is to blend the GST and the PST into one tax.. This will cut down the paperwork burden for Ontario businesses and, in theory, lessen staff by merging both departments. This could be a noble attempt to cut costs. There is just one problem. Rather than just blending the products and services that now charge both taxes, the provincial government has decided that it will apply this new tax to almost all goods and services that you do not pay PST on now!

You are about to become the victim of the largest tax hike in our history.

How will this affect you? Let's start with just a few things that are to be charged the extra 8% and see if it will affect you or your family.

Gasoline -- Home heating fuel -- Water -- Hydro -- Vet Care for Pets -- Used cars -- Internet -- Newspapers -- Hair Cuts -- Government and city services -- Interner -- Home TV -- Apartments -- Condos -- Christmas Trees -- Home Purchase -- Landscaping -- Secuirity -- Cell Phone User Fees -- The Ontario Hydro Fees -- Taxi Fares -- Bus Fares -- Trains Fares -- Plane Fares -- Snow Removal -- Maintenance -- Newspapers -- Magazines -- Kid's Sports & Organization Fees -- Gym Fees -- Hair Cuts -- Repairs of ALL Types -- Propane -- Natural Gas -- Wood -- Lawyers -- Accountants -- Therapists -- Designers -- Home Renovations -- Camping -- Tailors -- Dry Cleaners -- Lessons -- Lawn Care .... And the list goes on and on and on ....

Real Estate Fees - if you think 5 or 6% is bad, just watch the market decline further when people now pay PST + GST

**** LOOK OUT TIMMIES**** Yes !!!!! Even Your TimBits and Donuts will COST 8% MORE.... AHHH So What????  Believe it or not.... that would equal more that  $ 60 dollars EXTRA a year for a 1 cup / 1 Donut / Day

Tim's fan....

Any service you now use for your home or business such as repairs, professional services of any kind,

construction materials etc.

These are just a few.

See this article about how the $1000.00 BRIBE they are offering per family will not even cover ½ of the increased cost to that average family.

$ 300.00 / year for a single person with income under $ 80,000, which according to Stats Can, is 82% of us.

So let's play some hypothetical math games....

IF YOU Earn $ 2000 / month ....IF YOU are spending $ 1600 on living expenses and
$ 300 on food (very low conservative estimate) .... they are offering you $ 300 (divided into payments in 2010-2011) likely 3 x $ 100 ...

Imagine now that the $ 1600 you are currently spending has HST  -  Added --- that would TAKE $ 128/ month MORE from your earnings .... so you would have to take that from your grocery fund for example.... leaving you ONLY $ 172 / Month to EAT. ($ 5.55 / Day) ***** Join Us ***** Get Your " NO HST " Decal MAKE Your Demands Known....

Let's Add This Up, and like I said, it is a bare bones estimate....  $ 128 HST EXTRA TAXES MONTHLY = $ 1536 / Year MORE that you have to spend ... Just to get by.

So according to these tyrants.... they want you to sit down, shut up, vote them back in, and swallow the fact that in their mathematical lunacy  they give you $ 300 over 2 years .... you are OUT OF POCKET $ 3072.00 ( $ 1536 x 2 years) and that will help stimulate the economy and make Ontario a Happier & More Inviting Place....

If anyone thinks that the government's deal is a good one, for anyone except the government "Dalton's Money Machine" .... I will give you $ 1.00  and you can give me  $10.00

in return.... Any Time Any Place !!!!

This tax hits Ontarians hard, but ESPECIALLY the low income ones! You will have an 8% increase in everyday living expenses, and yet you will not see Your benefits or salaries rise.

www.digitaljournal.com/article/269917

Actually almost everything currently without PST in your life - except children's clothing, prescriptions, diapers, and feminine hygiene products - will now cost you 8% more. Oh and here is a kicker. The fuel tax will slide up with the increasing cost of that fuel.

Our premier is counting on taxpayers to do what they always do when a new tax is added. Nothing! It is very important that you start to research and discuss this with your friends and family. It is not too late to stop this if you are willing to do something as send an email to the premier asking him either to a) stop the tax grab all together or b) do what was originally intended and blend the tax on the products that now have both taxes and not to extend the new tax to everything else. If you just sit there remember you lose the right to complain about taxes ever again. Get UP and start telling everyone about this injustice and we can stop this today. Don't think your email will not count. When most MP's get more than 1000 emails, they consider it a catastrophe!

Send your objection to:

www.premier.gov.on.ca/feedback/feedback.asp

And Carbon Copy to you LOCAL member.

If you do nothing, you lose your right to complain. We assume you support the tax. Send an email or shut up and pay.

Those Ipsos Reid polling results show that people realize anything currently taxed with the five per cent GST will get an extra 7 per cent tax added on in July 2010 for a total 12 per cent HST.

Consumers would pay an extra $1.9 billion a year –- with all that money going to big business. Not a dime of the HST will pay for healthcare, education or social services.

It looks like the only way to force Campbell and Finance Minister Colin Hansen to drop the HST is to threaten their legislative majority and, if necessary, recall enough B.C. Liberal MLAs that they cannot remain in government.

The appropriate response to abuses of power is to remove that power. Taking out just eight B.C. Liberals would defeat the government.
